EWER: TO WEAVE FASHION SHOWCASE 2025

"EWER, meaning 'to weave', is a celebration of our people, our stories and our unique fashion identity. It's about weaving together our stories, our tradition and contemporary designs to showcase the incredible talents of the Torres Strait," Perina Drummond, Creative Director for EWER.
Building on the Torres Strait's deep traditions of weaving, adornment, and storytelling, EWER: To Weave Fashion Showcase featured community workshops, youth engagement initiatives, and a 2-night runway show that placed Torres Strait designers, artists and creatives centre stage.
The fashion showcase featured 11 designers and body adornment artists at Gab Titui Cultural Centre, affirming the strength and visibility of Torres Strait Islanders design within the national First Nations fashion and arts landscape. The event also featured an Island Dress competition, won by Matilda Nona.
Community engagement was at the heart of the program, with students from Tagai Secondary College participating as models, photographers and events crew, and community members joining textile art and creative design workshops.
Designers: Erub Arts, Athe Threads, TS Printz, Tommy Gela, Hans Ahwang, Robert Tommy Pau, Badu Arts, Salty Monkeys, Matilda Nona and Lisa Lui.
